40th President's Award

Dr. Glenn Pennington announces Malcolm DeCamp, MD of the Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center in Boston as the 2004 recipient pf the President's Award for best scientific paper. His paper and presentation was titled "

for his paper and presentation entitled “Patient And Surgical Factors Influencing Air Leak After Lung-volume–reduction Surgery: Lessons Learned From The National Emphysema Treatment Trial”


8th Annual Hawley H. Seiler, MD Resident's Award

The STSA announces Tara Karammlou, MD as the 2004 recipient of the Hawley H. Seiler, MD Resident's Award for the best resident paper. Her paper was titled "Use Of A Miniaturized Circuit And An Asanguineous Prime Reduces Organ Dysfunction Following Infant Cardiopulmonary Bypass". Dr. Karamlou and a guest are invited to attend the 52nd Annual Meeting, where she will be presented with a plaque recognizing her accomplishments.

2004 Tiki Award

Ross Ungerleider of Portland, Oregon has been awarded the Tiki Award for the most memorable and noteworthy slide at the Annual Meeting.

2004 Osler Abbott Award

Keith Naunheim of St. Louis, Missouri has been awarded the Osler Abbott Award for the most memorable discussions of the scientific sessions.
